John 5:24 (NKJV) “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”
Who said this? Jesus said it, not me.
What did Jesus say? Who is He talking about? He is talking about a person who hears Jesus’ word and responds by believing in the one who sent Jesus. Back up one verse and you will see Who sent Jesus. John 5:23 (NKJV) “that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.”
So Jesus is talking about a person who hears Jesus word and believes in His Father, and that Father sent Him. The next verse tells us Who Father is. John 5:25 (NKJV) “Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.” If Jesus is the Son of God, the God is the Father He is speaking of.
So Jesus said if you hear His word and believe in God the Father, believe that Jesus is the Son of God, you have everlasting life.
Some say, you’re not saved by just believing, you have to confess all your sins and change your behavior. I got all of this from what Jesus just said. So was Jesus misleading people?
Jesus went on to say in verse 24, that the person who hears His word and believes He is the Son of God, sent by God, “shall not come into judgment.” Verses 27 and 30, still Jesus’ words, talk about judgement. But He just told you in verse 24, that if you hear His word and believe, you are exempt from the judgment He is about to talk about.
This is Jesus’ words, not mine. This is so simple you have to be religious to misunderstand.
